Our faculty are extremely dedicated to resident education and research. We have an outstanding faculty to resident ratio of 1.5 to 1. We have didactic conferences each day both in the morning and at noon. There are also dedicated physics lectures each day for those preparing for the physics board exam. Our staff are well published and nationally known. We have an up-to-date library with a vast amount of educational CD-ROMs and the latest text books. Research is encouraged and the department funds many residents annually to attend meetings such as the RSNA, AUR, and ACR.
Our program is truly geared to support the resident's education. The department pays for attendance to AFIP and provides a generous housing/food allowance. An additional benefit includes an annual book stipend. We take a teamwork approach to call with both an upper and lower level resident on call at night, as well as a short call resident who stays through the evening. All three residents have their post-call day off, and multiple opportunities exist for moonlighting. There are several department-sponsored parties for staff and residents during the year. In addition, the department sponsors occasional resident "get togethers" after work.
We would like to thank you for your interest in our program. The University of Arkansas continues to be on the forefront of radiology and offers a quality education in a resident-friendly atmosphere. We wish you success in your search for a radiology residency.
Sincerely,
Ralph Panek, M.D. and Matt Mitchell, M.D.
