Congratulations to the following people for recent and upcoming accomplishments!

Shanna Palmer, M.D., Michelle Ransom, M.D., Vy Mui, M.D., and Larry Labbate, M.D. were all awared Red Sash awards. This award is given to outstanding faculty members who teach medical students and the winners are elected by the medical students.

Puru Thapa, M.D. was selected by the COM students to receive the UAMS Golden Apple award.  It is an extraordinary honor to have received the award for a fourth year!

New Grads:

Carole Edwards (Central Administration, Billing Team) will be receiving her Bachelors degree in Businiess from the University of Phoenix.

Tracy Kozak (Central Administration, IT) will be receiiving her Bachelors of Science degree in Information Technology from the University of Phoenix.

Chris Steven (Central Administration, IT) will be receiving an Associate Degree in Applied Science from Pulaski Tech.

Puru Thapa, M.D. has been selected as a distinguished finalist for the Association of American Medical Colleges' (AAMC) Humanism in Medicine Award. He was nominated by the UAMS chapter of the AAMC Organization of Student Representatives, based on five defining characteristics of humanism in medical education: positive mentoring skills; community service; compassion and sensitivity; collaboration; and the observance of professional ethics. The annual award is presented by the AAMC through the support of Pfizer Medical Humanities Initiative.

Ren Hurvey (Programs for Adults) was chosen as the March 2007 STAR award winner by the Revenue Integrity Specialist Team.
