UAMS Eating Disorders
Program
Each year millions of Americans
are affected
by serious and
sometimes life-threatening eating disorders. The consequences of eating disorders, such as Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa
can be severe and affect not
only the
individuals suffering
with the illness, but their families and friends as well. The
complex interaction of
emotional and physiological problems that accompany
eating disorders requires a comprehensive, multidisciplinary treatment approach. Our program, offered through the UAMS Psychiatric Research Institute (PRI), uses this all-encompassing and necessary healing philosophy as a basis for treatment.

The Adult Eating Disorders Program currently offers treatment to men and women, ages 18 years and older, on an outpatient basis.
The program utilizes multiple treatment modalities including individual and family therapy, group therapy, psychiatric consultations, nutrition counseling, and medication management if recommended by any of our specialized medical staff.
