Donna Jenkins Brown, MD
Graduate
Hometown: Little Rock, AR
I was born and raised in Little Rock and attended Little Rock public schools. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Arkansas (Go Hogs!), and a Master of Science degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences at UAMS before entering medical school. I graduated from medical school in 2003.
The psychiatry department has done a great job of creating fun and interesting rotations, as it was during my junior year that I began to think I would enjoy practicing psychiatry. In fact, the department does such a great job of attracting students that UAMS is ranked third in the nation for the number of graduates choosing psychiatry as their specialty.
I am very happy with my decision. As a resident, I experienced highly educational rotations with fair work loads, more than reasonable call schedules, and superb staff supervision. Practice opportunities are endless. I can pick and chose the populations with whom I’d like to work. The need for psychiatrists cannot be overstated. My interests are in substance abuse and women’s health, and I constructed a PGY-IV schedule of electives focused on treating these populations.
I am a wife and mother of two, ages 5 and 4 months. I enjoy spending time with my family, working out, playing the piano, and amateur photography.
