Community Engagement and Partnership Unit (CEPU)

Overview

The CEPU builds upon the organization established from the very beginnings of the College of Public Health (COPH) in the College's Office of Community-Based Public Health (OCBPH), an office with the COPH's Dean's Office, with strong linkage to the Community Advisory Board.

The COPH has had extensive experience with engaging communities and developing partnerships since it was founded in 2001, consistent with early strategic planning and a deep college-wide commitment to community-based approaches. Many of the members of this application team also have community engagement and partnership experiences pre-dating the COPH. This commitment to community-based approaches is also reflected in the development of the COPH's Office of Community-Based Public Health and a Committee for Community-Based Public Health (CCBPH) to integrate the functioning of the OCBPH with all College departments and maintain a college-wide focus on community-based approaches in our educational, research and service activities.
