During the summer, the potential for thefts and robberies are increased. More people are out and about and away from their homes, while there is no need to be afraid, you should keep in mind the following safety reminders and tips. Be aware of your surroundings and who is around you. Report any suspicious activity to the U.A.M.S. Police Department-686-7777 by calling from your cell phone or any of the blue light phones located throughout the campus. Travel in groups if possible. When going to your vehicle, have your keys ready for immediate use. When exiting your vehicle look around and make sure no one is following you. Call the U.A.M.S. Police if you need an escort. Carry your valuables wisely. Never carry cash in your wallet and only carry the cards that you need. Never leave valuables unattended. Lock valuable in your office or keep them at home. Don’t leave valuable such as purses and phones out on desk where they can be taken easily. PARKING LOT / DECK SAFETY Always lock your vehicle with the windows rolled up. Almost half of all vehicles broken into are left unlocked. Do not leave items of value in plain view. Remove GPS units and the indicators (mounts/chargers etc). Know where the emergency call boxes in your parking area are located. Report all lighting and maintenance issue to the appropriate department.
