REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION TO ADVANCED STUDIES IN PHARMACOLOGY
Admission to the Graduate Program in Pharmacology is a two step process. A student must be accepted both by the Graduate School at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and by the Graduate Program in Pharmacology. The Graduate School requires the following information:
1. A completed application form.
2. Official college transcripts from all colleges attended. These must be mailed from the college to the Graduate School of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Before a final acceptance can be granted, a transcript must be submitted showing the granting of a B.A., B.S. or equivalent.
3. Foreign students must also submit the following:
A. A completed Affidavit of Support form
B. A completed Summary of Educational Experiences form
C. Official GRE scores
D. Official TOEFL scores (a minimum score of 625 -paper test, 255-computer
test, or 100-internet test is required)
In addition to the documents and requirements for admission to the Graduate School of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, the Graduate Program in Pharmacology requires the following information:
1. An undergraduate grade point average of 3.0 (A = 4.0) or higher.
2. Satisfactory performance of the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or the
Medical College Admission Test (MCAT, with special permission). Official scores
must be submitted by the office that administers the test. A minimum GRE score
(verbal + quant combined) of > 1050 is required for full consideration.
3. A letter from the applicant describing his/her interest in pharmacology answering the following questions:
A. Why are you interested in pharmacology?
B. What are your career goals?
4. Three letters of recommendation from individuals who are familiar with the
applicant's scientific and academic capabilities.
5. A departmental interview, if possible.
