Henry (Hank) Farrar, M.D.
Residency Program Director
Associate Professor of
Pediatrics and Pediatric Emergency Medicine
Chief of Pediatric Clinical
Pharmacology
Henry (Hank) Farrar received his medical degree from UAMS followed by a
pediatric residency at UAMS and ACH. After this he completed fellowships in
pediatric emergency medicine and clinical pharmacology at the University of
Virginia and at Rainbow Babies and Childrens Hospital, Cleveland, Ohio.
Since returning to UAMS, he has been actively involved in pediatric
education, including being the junior pediatric clerkship director for 6
years, receiving a red sash award for teaching excellence for 7 of the last
9 years and being named one of the Educators of the Year by the Department
of Pediatrics in 2003. He is also involved in international medical
outreach, having worked with programs in Romania and Nigeria. His main
hobbies include golf and gardening, and he also enjoys traveling,
photography, camping and folk music festivals.
Jill Fussell, M.D.
Associate
Residency Program Director
Assistant
Professor of Pediatrics
Dr. Fussell is a native of El Dorado, in southern Arkansas. Her
undergraduate training was at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, and
she was a member of the UAMS College of Medicine Class of 1997. Her
pediatric residency training and Developmental/Behavioral Pediatrics
fellowship were at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston,
SC. Dr. Fussell joined UAMS faculty the summer of 2002, and shortly
thereafter became the Course Director for the residents’ rotation in
developmental pediatrics. She continues in that position while also serving
as Associate Pediatric Residency Program Director. Interaction with
residents is a primary reason for Dr. Fussell choosing a career in an
academic medicine program, and the positive experiences she had as a student
at UAMS were a natural draw for her to return here to practice. Dr. Fussell
and her husband have two daughters, and they all continue to cheer on the
LSU Tigers, even on Razorback turf.
