The UAMS Department of Pediatrics is seeking candidates for a position at the Schmieding Developmental Center at the Centers for Children in Lowell, AR.  Position is for a Pediatric Neuropsychologist which will function predominately in an outpatient setting.  Services are provided to a diverse population and referrals include neurological disorders, learning and attention problems, neurocognitive and social deficits, and children with chronic medical problems.  Assistance is also provided with differential diagnosis when possible organic and neurocognitive components need to be considered.  This clinic serves children from birth up to 21 years of age.  Candidates should be comfortable with all school age children age 5 and up.  Experience with pre-school ages is preferred but not required.  The faculty position would be at a rank to be determined by years of experience.  Candidates must have a Ph.D. in clinical psychology and be board eligible.  The position is available immediately.
 
The Schmieding Developmental Center currently employs 10 clinicians (2 child and adolescent psychiatrists, 1 neuropsychologist, 2 psych examiners, 2 speech pathologists, a professional counselor, a social worker and a nurse practitioner) and sees over 200 patients per month with additional growth expected.
 
The UAMS Department of Pediatrics employs over 200 faculty members and 75 residents.  Arkansas Children's Hospital (ACH) is among the largest children's hospitals in the United States and is the only tertiary care facility for children in the state. The Centers for Children in Lowell is the latest addition to a network of 24 existing Arkansas clinics that are part of a working collaboration between the UAMS Department of Pediatrics and ACH. This program is the first step in creating a statewide system of healthcare accessibility for children needing subspecialty and developmental care. The Centers for Children occupies a 40,000 square-foot, two-story building, which houses the Schmieding Developmental Center, the Schmieding KIDS FIRST program (a developmental pre-school) and various regional clinics.
