The Department of Pediatrics of the University of Arkansas for Medical
Sciences (UAMS) College of Medicine, based at Arkansas Children’s Hospital
in Little Rock, seeks a Senior Clinical Scientist to serve as Section Chief
and inaugural recipient of a new $1 million endowed chair in Child
Neurology. The Section Chief will serve as the administrative director for
budget, personnel and programs in Child Neurology.
The Child Neurology section presently includes seven faculty members plus
clinical and administrative staff in addition to an accredited Child
Neurology Residency Program. The Child Neurology faculty provide care for
approximately 7000 outpatient visits and 2800 inpatient care days annually.
In addition, they oversee 3000 EEGs, 300 CCU EEG monitoring days and
500 Video EEG days, as well as, over 1700 other procedures per year.
Arkansas Children’s Hospital operates one of 14 fully accredited
Pediatric Sleep Centers in the country.
Candidates must have qualifications meriting appointment at the rank of
Associate Professor or Professor. Board certification in Neurology with
special competence in Child Neurology is required. The successful applicant
will be a superb clinician and teacher and possess the vision and skills to
develop an academic child neurology program. The ideal candidate will also
have prior mentoring and administrative experience. Starting date is negotiable, but the position is available immediately.
