The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Genetics, of the University of
Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Medicine located at Arkansas
Children’s Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas, is seeking candidates for an
Assistant Professor (tenure track) in the clinical-educator pathway. M.D.
degree and board eligibility/board certification in Medical Genetics is
required. Expertise in biochemical genetics/inborn errors of metabolism is
desirable, but not essential. The position is available immediately.
Arkansas Children’s Hospital is among the largest children’s hospitals in
the United States and is the only tertiary care facility for children in the
state of Arkansas. The Department of Pediatrics employs over 185 faculty
members and 75 residents. Research is a strong interest of this department
and is encouraged. The Genetics section has close ties to the Arkansas
Department of Health Newborn Screening Program and the Arkansas Birth
Defects Center for Research and Prevention. Arkansas Children’s Hospital
also has a treatment facility for lysosomal disorders. Additional resources
include the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences cytogenetics
laboratory, as well as selected biochemical genetic assays performed in the
Arkansas Children’s Hospital clinical laboratory. Excellent new research lab
facilities are available at the Arkansas Children’s Hospital Research
Institute. Other research facilities include the GCRC with a pediatric
component, and a USDA Human Nutrition Center.
The UAMS Department of Pediatrics employs over 200 faculty members and
over 80
residents. Arkansas Children’s Hospital is among the largest children’s
