Pediatric Emergency Physician

University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences

Arkansas Children’s Hospital

The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Emergency Medicine, of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Medicine located at Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas, is seeking full time or part time pediatric emergency medicine candidates at any rank for appointment in the clinical-educator (tenure track) pathway. Potential applicants should hold an M.D. degree and board eligibility/board certification in pediatric emergency medicine is required. The position is available immediately, but the starting date is negotiable.

The Section of Emergency Medicine has an annual emergency department census of approximately 40,000 visits with a moderately high acuity (15-17% admission rate). The emergency department (ED) is the only dedicated pediatric emergency department in the state. The ED serves as online medical control for pediatric EMS runs and works with the ICU on an active helicopter pediatric transport program. Current research interests in the group include injury prevention, pediatric pre-hospital care, care of bronchiolitis and asthma in the ED, and pediatric disaster preparedness.

The UAMS Department of Pediatrics employs over 200 faculty members and over 80 residents. Arkansas Children’s Hospital is among the largest children’s hospitals in the United States. Located in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains, Little Rock is an exceptionally family-oriented community combining Southern friendliness, affordable housing, quality school options, a mild climate, excellent cultural and artistic venues, professional minor league sports, world class hunting, fishing and other outdoor recreational opportunities plus extraordinary natural beauty.
