The Pediatric Infectious Diseases section at
Arkansas Children’s Hospital (ACH) includes four board-certified specialists
with academic appointments in the College of Medicine at the University of
Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). Section activities include:
- Inpatient and outpatient
consultant services
- Children with HIV/AIDS
comprehensive clinical care
- Home IV therapy management
- Clinical Directorship of
the Clinical Microbiology Laboratory at ACH
- Participation in Infection
Control, Pharmacy & Therapeutics, and Child and Family Life telephone
consultations at ACH
- Basic science, clinical
research, clinical trials research, multi-centered national network
collaborations, and applied research in the areas of health promotion,
prevention and education
- Education activities for
second and third year medical students, an elective rotation for senior
medical students and residents in Pediatrics, Internal
Medicine/Pediatrics, Family Practice, Pharmacy, and Nursing
