Research Interests |
Economic Evaluations of
Pediatric Health Services. Dr. Tilford is a health economist with
interests in methods for the economic evaluation of pediatric health
services, risk-adjusted outcomes of children admitted to pediatric
intensive care units, health insurance for children, and the impact of
child disabilities on their caregivers. He has studied cost patterns for
previously uninsured children in the Mississippi Delta, examined
outcomes of children admitted to pediatric intensive care units without
health insurance, and evaluated whether a volume-outcome relationship
exists in pediatric intensive care units. Dr. Tilford has served as a
principal investigator on research sponsored by the Agency for
Healthcare Research and Quality, the Maternal and Child Health Bureau,
and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. He also has
published on the application of guidelines for economic evaluation as
they relate to pediatric populations and the impact of technology on
pediatric outcomes over time. His most recent work examines health
outcomes of children and their caregivers following admission for a
traumatic brain injury, for children with congenital hearing loss, and
for children with spina bifida. |
