Outcomes of Health Care for
Children and Adolescents. Dr. Robbins is a medical sociologist
with interests in measuring the outcomes of mental health care for
adolescents, the impact of nutritional deficits on the health and
well-being of children, hospital care of infants with birth defects, and
effectiveness of hospital care of children. He has developed an outcomes
measurement instrument for adolescent mental health care (the Adolescent
Treatment Outcomes Module - ATOM), and is involved in a large scale
study of the nutrition and health of adults and children in the
Mississippi Delta. Dr. Robbins directs a child health services research
group supported by Arkansas Children's Hospital, Center for Disease
Control, and Emergency Medical Services for Children. This group is
currently studying uses of the Kid's Inpatient Database to aid in
surveillance of birth defects, and to measure the impact of birth
defects on hospital resource use. Dr. Robbins also directs projects
designed to identify more efficient use of hospital care for high volume
and high cost illnesses of childhood. He is also a member of the Child
Health Accountability Initiative, a multi-hospital collaborative charged
with implementing and evaluating evidence-based hospital care for
children. |
