Hospital School Program

The Hospital School Program provides school for patients 3 years through twelfth grade. There are two classrooms for instruction, one for preschool/kindergarten and one for grades 1 – 12. Certified teachers along with volunteers implement the education services. The patients receive tutoring with their schoolwork in a group class or individually at bedside. Parents are encouraged to bring the patient’s books and assignments or the Hospital Teacher can contact the school and request the schoolwork. The Hospital Teacher also provides educational support, enrichment activities, and assistance with school re-entry once the patient is discharged. School is a normal activity for children and adolescents and it is important for them to maintain their schoolwork even when in the hospital.
