LETTERS OF AGREEMENT
When residency/fellowship education occurs in a participating institution (UH, ACH, VAH, BMC, SVI, etc) the sponsoring institution (UACOM) continues to have responsibility for the quality of that educational experience and must retain authority over the residents’ activities. Each residency training program must have appropriate letters of agreement between the program and the participating institution. These letters should:
1) identify the faculty who will assume both educational and supervisory responsibilities for the residents;
2) specify their responsibilities for teaching, supervision, and formal evaluation of residents;
3) specify the duration and content of the educational experience; and
4) state the policies and procedures that will govern resident education during the assignment.
Residency Review Requirements for each specialty describe the specific contents of these letters of agreement so program directors should review these requirements prior to developing the letter of agreement. Contact the GME Office 296-1159 to obtain the template for the standard letter of agreement.
