This ZERO TO THREE Web exclusive is a free interactive learning tool designed to help parents and caregivers encourage their young children's early learning.
This Tool Includes:

    • Core information about how children develop school readiness skills and how parents and care givers can nurture and support these skills in young children.
    • Video clips that show children learning these skills through everyday interactions with their parents.
    • Parent-child activities which provide fun ideas for helping children develop school readiness skills.
    • Frequently asked questions that offer answers to common questions about learning.

The Center for Effective Parenting offers parenting classes in Central Arkansas and Northwest Arkansas free of charge.  In addition, the website offers a large selection of free handouts on a variety of topics related to parenting, in both English and Spanish.

The Parent Center in Little Rock offers parenting classes in a variety of areas, including: Parenting the ADHD Child, Parenting the Strong Willed Child, and Parenting through Divorce. The class fee is $15 per person or $25 per couple, with free child care. The Parent Center also offers a new mom’s support group.

 

AAROC - Arkansas Autism Resource & Outreach Center

Are you working with a parent whose child just got a diagnosis of autism or asperger’s?  AAROC was designed to provide hope, direction, and support to parents of children on the autism spectrum.  They offer trainings around the state for parents, professionals, churches, and other interested groups.  In addition, they have started a support group for parents in Little Rock, with free child care available by reservation.  The group meets from 6-8 p.m. on the 4th Tuesday of each month, with the format varying from educational presentations to open forums.  AAROC is also available to facilitate support groups forming around the state.
