Q. I am a visitor or patient to UAMS; Where do I
park?
A. Visitor and patient is available at three
major locations on campus. Please check our
Visitor and Guest Parking web page or
our Campus Maps for
more information.
Q. I'm new here. How do I get parking?
A. See the Parking Applications
section of this
website for an application.
Q. Why do I have to pay for parking and who sets the parking rates?
A. By law University of Arkansas parking facilities cannot be paid
for using state funds so the parking charges are used to defray costs and maintenance. The rates
are set by the University of Arkansas Board of Trustees. A list is available
online of employee and student annual parking fees.
Q. How do I pay for my parking?
A. If you are an employee, you will have
your parking costs deducted automatically from your paycheck. If you are
a student, you will be required to pay for your parking in advance for
the year.
Q. The area where I am supposed to park has no
available spaces. What should I do?
A. You will need to contact the parking
office at 526-PARK (526-7275). They will direct you to an alternate
area. If you do not contact the parking office or you do not park where
directed, you run the risk of being issued a parking ticket.
Q. I have more than one vehicle. Can I get a sticker for each?
A. Yes, you may purchase an additional
decal for each of your cars.
Q. Can I get a second key card?
A. NO. Only one card will be issued.
Q. My card is old, cracked, or
broken. Can I get it replaced?
A. Yes. There will be a charge for the
replacement of a key card.
Q. I have employee or student parking but I am here as a Patient, Where can I park?
A. You may park in any of the patient / visitor parking areas but you must contact UAMS Parking Operations providing name, vehicle information and parking location. You may contact UAMS Parking Operations using one of the following options; complete the online form – here, email the required information to Parking@uams.edu or call the Parking office at 526-PARK (if outside business hours 7:30AM - 4:00PM call the UAMS Police Dept. 686-7777).
Q. I am driving another car. Can I park it in
my normal parking area?
A. Yes, but you must contact UAMS Parking Operations on each day providing name, vehicle information and parking location. You may contact UAMS Parking Operations using one of the following options; complete the online form – here, email the required information to Parking@uams.edu or call the Parking office at 526-PARK (if outside business hours 7:30AM - 4:00PM call the UAMS Police Dept. 686-7777).
If you will be using another car for more than 3 days you must come to the Parking Office and get a temporary pass at no charge.
Q. I just got a new car. Can I put my old sticker on it or do I need
to get a new sticker for it?
A. No, you can’t put your old sticker on
your new car but you should take the old sticker off your old car and
turn it in to the Traffic Office when registering your new car. There
will be a charge for the new sticker for your new car.
Q. I work evenings or nights and am called in to work during the day
and I have evening or night parking . Where do I Park?
A. You may park at War Memorial Stadium and
ride the shuttle bus. Once your normal work hours start then you may
relocate your car to your normal parking area.
Q. I am going on a leave or vacation. Can I let my friend use my
parking.
A. Not unless you have reserved parking,
then you must provide the written notification giving the name and car
information of the person you are allowing to use your reserved space.
This notification must be sent to
parking@uams.edu prior to the person
using the space.
Q. I was issued a parking ticket. Where do I pay it?
A. You can pay it at the Traffic Office
located on the second floor of the Distribution Center or you can place
payment in the ticket and place it in the red ticket boxes located
throughout the campus.
Q. I got a parking ticket and don’t think I deserve it. What do I
do?
A. You may file an appeal within 7 days of
the day you received the ticket. The appeal form is available from the
admissions desk in the main hospital or you may
download here.
Q. What happens if I don’t pay my tickets?
A. If you are a student your grades can be
held until the tickets are paid. If you are an employee all tickets must
be paid prior to clearance. If you accumulate more than 10 tickets your
car may be immobilized by "boot" or towed and held until the tickets are
paid
