Center for
Shoulder & Elbow Surgery

The Center for Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, under the directorship of Syed “Ash” Hasan, M.D., provides comprehensive care for patients with acute or chronic disorders of the shoulder and elbow.  These disorders include traumatic and non-traumatic conditions as well as work-related injuries.  Dr. Hasan is a fellowship-trained Shoulder and Elbow surgeon and is one of the few surgeons in Arkansas who performs outpatient minimally invasive arthroscopic procedures.  In addition, the Center provides state-of-the-art equipment and prostheses for total joint reconstruction of both the shoulder and elbow.

The Shoulder and Elbow Center offers patients the following services:

  • Arthroscopic and open rotator cuff repair
  • Arthroscopic and open stabilization procedures for the shoulder
  • Total joint replacement of the shoulder and elbow for arthritis
  • Elbow arthroscopy
  • Fracture fixation of the shoulder and elbow
  • Nerve decompression
  • Arthroscopic synovectomy of the shoulder and elbow for rheumatoid arthritis
  • Arthroscopic release of the stiff shoulder and elbow

Occupational and physical therapy is considered a critical and integral part of the recovery process and as such the physicians work closely with UAMS therapists to help achieve an optimal outcome.
