PGY-5 (Fourth-Year Residents)
 
Timothy C. Bowlin, MD

Dr. Bowlin is from New Orleans, Louisiana and is a 1995 graduate of Louisiana State University at Baton Rouge, LA where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology.  Timothy earned his medical degree from the Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans, LA in 2003. Dr. Bowlin’s honors and awards include the recipient of the LSU board of Supervisors Scholarship and the Southern Medical Association Merit Scholarship.
Wesley K. Cox, MD

Dr. Cox is from Fayetteville, Arkansas and is a 1998 graduate of Auburn University at Auburn, Alabama. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology, was on the Dean's List, and graduated Magna Cum Laude.  Wesley earned his medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 2003.  He is a member of AOA and was the recipient of several scholarships including the Emiline Vincent, Dr. and Mrs. Frank Maguire Sr. Memorial, Medical College Physician’s Group, and was a three-time recipient of the Washington County Medical Alliance Scholarship.
Jeffrey W. Johnson, MD

Dr. Johnson is from Fayetteville, Arkansas and is a 1999 graduate of University of Mississippi at Oxford, MS.  He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences and was a graduate of the McDonnel-Barksdale Honors College as well.  He earned his Medical Degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences 2003, and is a member of the AOA.  Jeffrey was the recipient of the Dr. Lee Bailey Word Scholarship (2000) and the Dr. George Link Akerman Scholarship (2002).  He was named a Barton Scholar in 2001 and received the 2001 Award for Excellence and Achievement in Sophomore Pathology from the American Society of Clinical Pathology.
Theresa O. Wyrick, MD

Dr. Wyrick is from Little Rock, Arkansas and a 1999 graduate of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and received the Martha Couch Givens Award for Outstanding Senior Biology Student.  Theresa earned her medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 2002.  Dr. Wyrick’s honors and awards include the Pulaski County Medical Society Award, the Dr. Morris Hughes Memorial Award, the Dr. E.F. Ellis Award, was a Barton Scholar, and the recipient of the Buchanan Key Scholarship.


PGY-4 (Third-Year Residents)

Gregory Ardoin, MD

Dr. Ardoin obtained his BS from the University of Southwestern Louisiana and a medical degree from Louisiana State University Medical School in Shreveport, LA.  Dr. Ardoin’s honors and awards includes: AOA, the Nathan Burstein scholarship, Alumni Association Outstanding Graduate Award, the Lafayette Parish Medical scholarship, the Opelousas Hospital scholarship and the Masonic Foundation scholarship. 
Cari Cordell, MD

Dr. Cordell received her BS in Biology and Chemistry from the Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, was an outstanding graduate in chemistry from Ouachita Baptist University, received the senior Balmer scholarship and graduated Magna Cum Laude.  She received her medical degree from the University of Arkansas College of Medicine in 2004.  Dr. Cordell’s professional awards include: AOA, Barton Foundation scholarship, Medical College Physician Group scholarship and Alpha Chi honorary sorority. 

Robert LeBlanc, MD

Dr. LeBlanc received BS in Zoology from the Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA and M.P.H. from Louisiana State University School of Public Health and a medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine.  Dr. LeBlanc’s medical honor include: AOA, LSUHSC Board of Supervisors scholarship, the LSU Track and Field scholarship, recipient of the Athletic Director’s Cub, USA All-American Collegiate Award and scholarship, All SEC Track and Cross Country, Catholic High School Outstanding Student-Athlete, and Eagle Scout.

Corey Montgomery, MD

Dr. Montgomery received a BS and MS in Biology from Alcorn State University in Lorman, MS and medical degree from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis, TN.  Dr. Montgomery’s honors and awards include: AOA, Paul Ambrose Leadership Symposium, Kaplan Medical Honor Society, Who’s is Who Students in American College and Universities, National Collegiate Minority Leadership Award, All American Scholar, most outstanding student in Biology, Alcorn State University and graduated Magna Cum Laude.

Robert Cercek, MD

Dr. Cercek is from Grand Rapids, Michigan.  At the University of Michigan, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Cellular and Molecular Biology in 1996 and a Masters in Public Health (M.P.H.) in Human Nutrition in 1999.  Dr. Cercek earned his medical degree from Wayne State School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan, in 2004.  Dr. Cercek transferred to the UAMS Orthopaedic Surgery program from Tulane University after Hurricane Katrina.

PGY-3 (Second Year Residents)

Christina Hardesty, MD

Chris is from Sacramento, CA.   She's a 2000 graduate from Hendrix College where she earned a BA. in biology. Chris earned her medical degree from UAMS in 2005. Throughout medical school, she was the vice-president of the American Medical Women’s Association Student Chapter. In her free time, Chris enjoys many hobbies including, flying as a licensed Private Pilot, running, cooking, kickboxing, and gardening.
Jason McConnell, MD

Jason is from Magnolia, AR. He earned a BS degree in Microbiology from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, AR and his medical degree from UAMS in 2005. Jason played for the Minnesota Twins Minor League baseball team for 2 ½ years before medical school. In his free time, Jason enjoys intramural sports, duck hunting, training his Labrador retriever, and reading.
Russell Rauls, MD

Russ is from Rison, AR. He graduated magna cum laude from UCA with a BS in Biology and earned his medical degree from UAMS 2005. Russ was an Academic All-American in football, a two-time Gulf South Academic All-Conference in football and earned the Football and Presidential Scholarship to UCA. Russ enjoys spending time with his wife, Tenille, and their daughter, Lexi. They are active in their church and participate in church-league sports.
Todd Wente, MD

Todd is from Effingham, IL. He earned a BA in biology from Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, IL, and a medical degree from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield, IL. He is a member of AOA and received honors in Medicine and Neurology third year clerkships. When time permits, Todd enjoys basketball, golf, snow and water skiing, backpacking, and fly fishing.

PGY-2(First Year Residents)

Mark Bailey, MD

 Mark is from Harrison, Arkansas. He graduated from Harding University in 2002 with a BS in chemistry. Mark earned his medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in May 2006. He was the recipient of numerous scholarships and is a member of the AOA, AMA, and Arkansas Medical Society. In his free time, Mark enjoys four wheel riding with his wife, Kendra. Mark also enjoys restoring old motorcycles, playing basketball, and golf.
Jody Bradshaw, MD

Jody is from Ozark, Arkansas. He graduated from the University of Central Arkansas in 2002 with a BS in biology. Jody earned his medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in May 2006. He is a member of the AMSA, AMA, Arkansas Medical Society, and the recipient of numerous scholarships. Jody enjoys woodworking, camping, and restoring old muscle cars.

Karen Hand, MD

Karen is originally from Meridian, Mississippi. In 2002, she graduated Suma Cum Laude from Mississippi College in Clinton, Mississippi with a BS in BioChemistry. Karen earned her medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine; Jackson, Mississippi. She was the recipient of the James A. McDevitt, MD Medical Scholarship and is a member of the Gold Humanism Honor Society. Karen's hobbies include long distance running, swimming, cycling, and has been a USA Triathlon team member for the last three years.

Jason Ramsey, MD

Jason's hometown is Lubbock, Texas. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 2001 with a BS in Nutritional Science. Jason earned his medical degree from Texas Tech University School of Medicine, in Lubbock, Texas. He was one of only six students to be elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society as a junior member during medical school. In his leisure time, Jason enjoys spending time with his wife, Layla, and their newborn daughter, Regan.

PGY-1(Interns)

Val Irion, MD

Val is originally from Shreveport, LA. He is a 2003 graduate of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA. He received a BS in biological sciences and graduated as a University medalist for highest overall GPA. He then earned his medical degree in May of 2007 at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport. He is a junior member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. In his free time, Val enjoys spending time with his wife, playing golf and other competitive sports, cooking, running, and following LSU football.
Kirk Reynolds, MD

Kirk is originally from Searcy, AR. He attended the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and then received his BS in Healthcare Sciences from the University of Central Arkansas in 1998 and his MS in Physical Therapy from UCA in 1999. He received his medical degree from UAMS in 2007 where he was a Barton Scholar in 2006. Kirk is engaged to Kimberly Krulin, M.D. who is an intern  at UAMS. In his free time, Kirk enjoys Arkansas Razorback football, basketball and baseball, golf, duck hunting, cooking, and playing with his Boxer and Golden Retriever.

Brant Sachleben, MD

Brant is from Bedford, Kentucky and is 1998 graduate of the University of Kentucky where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He earned his medical degree from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in 2007. He is a member of AOA and received the Wethington Scholarship. In his spare time, Brant enjoys spending time with his wife and friends, hiking, and playing basketball.

John Stephenson, MD

Medical School:  University of Arkansas College of Medicine; Little Rock, AR

Undergraduate Education: Bob Jones
University; Greenville, SC; BS Pre-Med Biology

Hobbies and Interests: Varied musical interests including playing the violin, piano, and guitar. Enjoys performing with orchestras, string ensembles, choirs, vocal ensembles, symphonic bands, and other school and community groups. Recreational activities including golf, tennis, running, football, baseball, and basketball.
