We have been asked by NIH to circulate the following invitation as

widely as possible to biomedical research organizations,

disease-focused associations and patient advocacy groups

On September 30, 2003, Dr. Elias A. Zerhouni, Director of the National

Institutes of Health, will announce implementation and details of the

NIH Roadmap for the Future of Biomedical Research. The Roadmap is

designed to speed medical research by identifying new research pathways,

building the research teams of the future and re-engineering the

clinical research enterprise.

Dr. Zerhouni will personally provide an advance briefing on the

roadmap September 29 to all representatives of biomedical research

organizations, disease-focused associations and patient advocacy

groups. The briefing will take place in Wilson Hall of NIH's Building
