RCR Training

Responsible Conduct of Research Education Plan

New federal regulations require all federally funded (NIH & NSF) trainees to have at least 8 hours of face-to-face Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) training within one year. Once the training is complete, the training requirement is fulfilled for a period of four years. The Office of Research Compliance (ORC) and the College of Medicine have collaborated with the Graduate School to meet these federal requirements. A Scientific Communications (SC) course will be offered to all federally funded trainees in order to meet federal requirements. The SC course is a one-year course with many sessions on various topics.  A list of 10 sessions have been identified and scheduled to meet the needs of the RCR training requirement. Each session will be 1 hour in length; therefore a total of 8 sessions must be completed in order to comply with the federal regulations.

ORC will track and maintain records of all sessions completed by UAMS federally funded trainees. Each session will be held in the Rayford Auditorium (Biomed II) on Wednesday afternoons from 2-3 pm. All federally funded trainees at UAMS must attend 8 of these 10 identified sessions within one year.

*Please note that trainees who have completed at least 8 hours of the Scientific Communications course within the past three years do not have to complete the training this year (if attendance can be verified). However, after a four year time frame, the course must be repeated.
