The UAMS Leadership Institute is aimed at
identifying and developing leaders who will contribute to the continued success
of UAMS. The participants will have the opportunity to interact with colleagues
and professionals from the campus and community to gain a better understanding
of their personal leadership styles, build relationships across campus and
understand the issues facing leaders in the health care industry. The UAMS
Leadership Institute seeks to:
Foster an environment where participants can
build relationships and learn from one another.
Acquaint the participants with campus needs, challenges and opportunities.
Provide the participants with the tools needed
to develop and enhance their leadership skills.
Provide the participants with the opportunity
to demonstrate their leadership skills through a variety of activities and
presentations.
Retain and motivate future leaders.
Participants must be at the
Director level or above. You must be nominated by your supervisor. Once
nominated, your acceptance is based on meeting certain criteria as outlined
by the program's acceptance committee.

The UAMS Management
Academy is designed to provide opportunities for you, as a manager, to develop
your skills in order to be a contributing force at UAMS. Upon completion of
this program, you will have obtained an understanding of your role within UAMS
and the responsibilities you have as a leader in this organization. You will be
inducted into the UAMS Management Academy Alumni Association in which you will
receive ongoing educational support and opportunities to use your skills to
develop future UAMS Management Academy participants.
This program will
benefit you by providing you the opportunity to:
Establish a
solid base of relational and professional support
Increase your
understanding of your role within the UAMS system
Develop your
ability to effectively delegate and communicate
Develop your
ability to effectively manage performance
Receive
continuous educational support
In order to participate, you must be nominated by
someone at the manager's level or above. Once nominated, your acceptance
is based on meeting certain criteria as outlined in the
program details.
Applications for the Spring 2008 class will be accepted through January 30,
