Carol Thrush, Ed.D.

Assistant Professor

 

 

Service

Dr. Thrush works collaboratively with faculty by providing expertise in educational theory and research, faculty development, data analysis, manuscript editing and writing for publication.  Dr. Thrush oversees administration of the GME annual survey at UAMS and participates in promoting educational scholarship and evaluation activities including assisting with the development of educational materials such as posters, presentation slides, handouts, manuscripts, grant proposals and accreditation documents. One of Dr. Thrushs primary areas of focus is working with Graduate Medical Education in the Educator, Administrator, Scholar, Evaluator/Counselor (E.A.S.E.) program which is designed to assist residency program directors and coordinators in their educational role. She also serves on the Graduate Medical Education Executive Committee and the GME Performance Improvement Subcommittee.

 

At the national level, as a member of Division I, Education in the Professions, of the American Educational Research Association, Dr. Thrush serves as a reviewer of research proposals for the AERA annual conference and as Editor of the Professions Education Research Quarterly newsletter (PERQ). She also serves as a reviewer for other medical education conferences and journals.

Teaching

Dr. Thrushs teaching activities include invited presentations focused on health professions research and scholarship, working with the GME E.A.S.E. program for residency directors, assisting with the Teaching Scholars program, and participating in several small-group educational project teams. 

Scholarship

Her areas of research and scholarly interest include content analysis methodologies, faculty development, research integrity, quality improvement and performance measurement, self-directed and lifelong learning particularly as related to information retrieval and synthesis, writing for publication, and small group/problem-based teaching resources.
