methodologies, and evaluation techniques across a wide range of course
topics within the UAMS colleges and graduate school.
Mike Petty is an Assistant Professor and Instructional Development
Specialist II in the Office of Educational Development, with a doctorate in
Curriculum & Instruction/Science Education from Indiana University. For the
past 15 years he has been involved in the teaching and development of a
broad range of undergraduate courses in the biological sciences (Biological
Concepts, Cell Biology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Human Anatomy and
Physiology), as well as helping prepare teachers in elementary and secondary
science education. Mike has an M.S. in Biology (biophysics/cellular
neurobiology) from Purdue University, along with an M.S. in Management (MBA)
from the same institution. He also has an extensive background in training,
simulation, and instructional development during his 15 years of experience
in B-52/KC-135 with the U.S. Air Force and Air Force Reserves. He has
teaching experience in nursing, pharmacy, and medical technology programs,
as well. His undergraduate degree was received from Manchester College in
North Manchester, Indiana in Biology, with a focus in cell
biology/physiology.
