Service
As
coordinator of eLearning in OED, Dr. Smith provides planning and
instructional design services as well as coordinates faculty development
activities for online learning at UAMS. She chairs the Blackboard
Administrative Support Committee to coordinate eLearning support services
provided by OED and Academic Computing. Dr. Smith is an ex-officio member of
the COM Curriculum Committee. Teaching Dr. Smith conducts professional development workshops on eLearning topics. She recently presented papers at both regional and international conferences. Dr Smith has been teaching online courses for over 13 years. Scholarship Dr. Smith's recent scholarship work involves designing course content for effective online learning: chunking of course materials into absorbable pieces, presenting content to accommodate brain and learning theory, and designing for quality in online courses.
