Service

Ms. Mercado provides technical services for researchers and evaluators. She facilitates development of surveys that can be scanned.  She helps in setting up databases.

Research Support

Ms. Mercado has extensive experience in preparing statistical reports for various evaluations of programs and seminars on campus.  Since joining the OED, she has been involved in the generation of statistical reports.  She assists in generating evaluations on institution and center level evaluation reports.

Teaching and Teaching Materials Development

Ms. Mercado educates researchers in the design of questionnaires and surveys using REMARK. She develops and maintains various databases.  She is an available resource for SPSS and EXCEL program issues.

Background

Provides assistance to the OED faculty in conducting literature reviews, developing instruments appropriate for educational research, implementing research protocols, collecting and analyzing data and communicating the results of the studies.

Cynthia C. Mercado obtained her MA in Social Gerontology from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 1997 and her BS in Medical Technology at the University of the City of Manila, Philippines. A recipient of the 2000 NIA-supported APA-MANIP fellowship in the 2nd Annual Summer Institute in Aging, her interests include minority aging issues.

Prior to joining the OED, she worked at the Food and Nutrition Research Institute in the Philippines, Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center and at the Arkansas Children's Hospital Research Institute wherein she gained extensive laboratory research experience in the areas of nutrition evaluation, biochemistry, molecular biology, endocrinology, and statistical analysis.
