Living in Little Rock
Little Rock is centrally located and is the capital of the state of Arkansas. It
offers an affordable place to live with most residents living within 10 minutes
of the hospital. Hillcrest is an historic neighborhood located blocks away and
is known for houses of diverse architectural styles. Housing choices range from
apartments to single family homes. UAMS also has campus housing available.
The Little Rock River Market is one of the biggest attractions and is located in
the heart of downtown, again just minutes from UAMS. It consists of several
unique shops along with several venues for entertainment. It also offers a
farmers’ market on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

While strolling through the River Market, you may also notice the 2.5 mile
River Rail trolley system which began operating in October 2004. It connects
Little Rock and North Little Rock downtowns with a classic streetcar line.
