Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility
Mission
Our goal is to provide state of the art reproductive endocrinology and
infertility services for our patients. Our comprehensive program includes the basic
infertility evaluation including hysterosalpingography (HSG), endometrial biopsy, laparoscopy, hysteroscopy, transvaginal ultrasonography and semen
analysis. We provide basic and advanced infertility treatment including ovulation
induction, artificial insemination, in vitro fertilization (IVF), operative
laparoscopy/hysteroscopy, embryo cryopreservation, donor eggs, sperm freezing, donor sperm
inseminations, gestational surrogacy, and tubal ligation reversal. In addition, we also
have a comprehensive program for the evaluation and management of patients with
endometriosis, prolactin disorders, polycystic ovarian disease (PCO), uterine
fibroids, recurrent pregnancy loss, and menstrual disorders. Our
facility also has a procedure room equipped for procedures requiring
conscious IV sedation.
History
The Division of Reproductive Endocrinology in the Department of
Obstetrics & Gynecology at the University of Arkansas for Medical
Sciences (UAMS) provides Arkansas with a comprehensive Assisted
Reproductive Technology (ART) Program as well as one of the state’s four physicians who are board certified in reproductive
endocrinology and infertility. Our IVF laboratory is certified by
the American College of Pathologists (CAP). The first in vitro fertilization (IVF) procedure in
Arkansas was performed at UAMS in July 1988. In the autumn of 1995 UAMS celebrated the
birth of the 100th infant conceived through the ART Program and currently over
1500 babies have been born from our IVF program as well as hundreds more as a result of
ovulation induction, artificial insemination and surgical treatment of infertility. The
program has consistently maintained IVF pregnancy rates above the national average. As our
program continues to grow, we look forward to improving patient access to infertility
treatment.
