Division of General Obstetrics and Gynecology

The faculty of the Division of General Obstetrics and Gynecology provide comprehensive obstetrical care, as well as evaluation and treatment of all disorders of the female reproductive tract.  We manage many "high risk" pregnancies in close collaboration with our Maternal-Fetal Medicine colleagues.  Our Labor and Delivery unit is one of the best in the state and one of the faculty and several residents are available in-house 24 hours a day to manage any obstetrical emergency.  We also have access 24 hours a day to Maternal-Fetal Medicine consultation.

Faculty physicians evaluate common gynecologic disorders such as heavy or unusual menstrual periods, uterine fibroid tumors, abnormal pap smears, urinary incontinence, endometriosis and pelvic pain.  We provide medical and surgical treatments of these and other conditions with an emphasis on minimally invasive surgery when possible.  Other areas of interest are contraception, polycystic ovarian syndrome, premenstrual syndromes, post menopausal hormone therapy, comprehensive evaluation of menopausal problems and osteoporosis.  We also offer in-office, no incision tubal ligation.

We have ready access to Uro-gynecology sub-specialist consultation for patients with more difficult problems such as complex urinary or fecal incontinence and severe pelvic relaxation.  A Reproductive Endocrinologist is available for difficult fertility problems and in vitro fertilization and other assisted reproductive technologies.  Consultations rendering second opinions prior to surgery are also available.

Our goal is to provide the highest quality services to our patients and to continuously evaluate the results of our efforts. We strive to meet the needs of our patients through involvement of our faculty staff at all levels. We continue to conduct clinically important research to advance our practice and we incorporate new results to keep our practice state-of-the art.
