Joseph A. Banken, MA, PhD, HSPP, is an Associate Professor in the UAMS
Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Director of Behavioral Health and
the ANGELS Director of Research. Dr. Banken is on the adjunct faculty at UAMS in
the Departments of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, and Genetic Counseling.
He is a part of the Adjunct Faculty at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock
Department of Psychology. Dr. Banken is a licensed psychologist and member of
the American Psychological Association. He has been registered by the
prestigious National Register of Health Providers of Psychology since 1991 and
is a member of the American Psychological Association, Association for
Advancement of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies, and American Society of
Reproductive Medicine. Dr. Banken is a clinician, researcher and sought-after
speaker. He has published in many areas including drug abuse, postpartum
depression, and domestic violence often presenting to professional and research
groups throughout the nation and abroad.
Dr. Banken holds a unique position as a Clinical Psychologist for the Department
of Obstetrics and Gynecology primarily focusing on high-risk pregnancy patients,
postpartum depression, and grief.
