Financial Information

What Are The Costs?
The charges for prenatal screening diagnosis services range from $600.00 to $2,100.00 depending on the tests and procedures required. Discovery of twins will incur additional charges.

How Do We Pay?
Many insurance companies cover the costs of prenatal screening and diagnosis. Bring your insurance card or Medicaid card and the clinic will file your payment (if you have insurance that covers this procedure). If you do not have insurance coverage, a fee of $50 is required at the time of your visit.  Then the program can help arrange a suitable payment plan with UAMS.

If you are a member of a managed care plan, you may need a referral from your primary care physician prior to your visit to our clinic. It is the responsibility of the patient to work with their physician and insurance carrier to meet the requirements of their policy. Failure to do so may result in a denial/reduction of insurance coverage.

Patients may receive up to three bills; one from the Medical College Physicians Group (MCPG), one from Genzyme Genetics (or other  reference lab that does genetic or chromosome studies), and one from University Hospital for supplies.

If you desire prenatal diagnosis and do not have insurance or are unable to afford it, special arrangements can be made. Please do not let inability to pay stand in the way of your having the test.

For more information call the Arkansas Genetics Program at 501-296-1700 or 1-800-358-7229.
