Telemedical Communications
Telemedical Communications (TMC) is a part of the State of Arkansas Video Network (VNet), which is made up of various institutions and campuses throughout the state. There are approximately 160 Compressed Interactive Video (CIV)
sites operating within the state using mostly Polycom systems and Tandberg
systems.
TMC maintains a statewide CIV (compressed interactive video) network. The network consists of 64 sites including 54 rural hospitals,
and 7 Area Health Education Centers (AHEC). The UAMS network is capable of connecting to other states and countries throughout the world.
Using T1/ATM fiber optic transmission and H.323 protocol, consults are being conducted in many areas such as:
