Telemedical Communications
UAMS has been active in Distance Learning and Telemedicine since 1992. The Network consists of
approximately 45 rural hospital, 8 AHECs as well as many endpoints on the UAMS
campus. Telemedical Communications is able to connect to most locations around
the world.
Larry Elliott
Network Director

Larry Elliott is the Network Director for Telemedical Communications at
UAMS. He has a BA in Radio, Television & Film with an emphasis in broadcast
management. Elliott has an extensive background in the communications
industry in the state of Arkansas having owned and operated a successful
production house for several years. He has over 29 years of experience in
the broadcasting industry and as bee non the support faculty of the
University for almost 20 years of his career. Elliott has been at UAMS
Telemedical Communications for approximately 7 years now and has been
involved in teleconferencing from the broad base perspective covering the
technical aspects from site scheduling to network operations and management.
Elliott currently coordinates all of the technical maintenance aspects of
the 60 site UAMS/Rural Hospital Network including the technical maintenance
(both on campus and far site), technology quality control and evaluation,
and network financials. He coordinates with other state agencies in the
development of statewide strategies for distance learning and all other
telecommunications activities. Elliott affirms that the primary goal of UAMS
Telemedical Communications is to complement what are the essential aims of
UAMS: To provide positive assistance in any clinical care situation
requested, and to provide distance learning options that reach every corner
or Arkansas and beyond.
Tim Land
Network Manager

Tim Land is a native of Hope, Arkansas, where he began his educational & professional development as the Telecommunications & Computer Services technician at the University of Arkansas Community College at Hope. He chose to continue his educational development by attending UALR and working towards a Bachelor's degree in
Social Work. He continues his professional development by working towards an A+,
Net+, MCP, MCSA, and the Certified Video Engineering certifications. Land chose
to continue his professional development by joining the UAMS Telemedicine
department, where he has been able to gain knowledge and experience that led him
to the current position as the Network Manager for the Telemedicine Network. He
is responsible fo the day to day operations of the network, ensuring that the
hardware and software elements are able to function together in order to produce
an 'interactive" program.
Jeremy Johnson
Assistant Network Director

A native of North Little Rock, Mr, Johnson is a University of Arkansas at
Little Rock graduate where he majored in Radio, TV and Film and minored in
Information Technology. He is a Telecommunication Infrastructure design
engineer. His career experiences include over 7 years in the broadcast
industry from the on-location production perspective. Johnson has utilized
his Information Technology expertise and combined that with the professional
broadcast talents that he has developed to become an innovator and visionary
at the process of telecommunications system design and integration.
Johnson's technical expertise includes room system design, drafting,
computer hardware and software (PC and MAC) troubleshooting, creative design
of printed advertising. Johnson has experience in Photoshop, smartdraw,
various video editing packages and WIN95/98/NT/2000/XP.
Kim Timmerman
Communications Specialist

Originally from Northwest Arkansas, Ms. Timmerman obtained her bachelor's degree in
Mass Communications with an emphasis in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in
writing at the University of Central Arkansas. Ms. Timmerman is familiar with
the technical aspects of videoconferencing and currently coordinates
videoconferencing programs. She imparts guidance to program presenters in
videoconferencing production, provides program scheduling and coordinates the
fiscal progression for Telemedical clientele.
Stephanie McNamara
Network Technician

Stephanie McNamara is a Multi-media Specialist in the Telemedical
Communications office. McNamara has a background in the radio broadcast
industry from both the technical and the programming/performance arena. She
has been on staff at UAMS for approximately 4 years and has experience in
audio/visual production and electronic media technical troubleshooting.
McNamara is currently pursuing her education at the University of Arkansas
at Little Rock. She provides valuable service in the TMC section by
assisting presenters/faculty with visual media preparation and technology
assistance. McNamara also provides guidance in assisting the Southwestern
Bell Videoconferencing center in assimilating data for the daily
teleconference plan of work for the UAMS network.
