OTS Reports

The Instructor has the ability to select the type and number of printed reports produced when a test is scored.  After a new course is setup, one copy of all of the combined reports are automatically printed and will continue to be produced with each new scoring, unless you specify otherwise on the Report Selection Request form.  The Report Selection Request form allows you to select which current test and cumulative gradebook reports are produced.

The reports you receive after your exam is scored are printed on continuous (8.5" x 14") forms which contain the following types of information: performance of students, performance of the exam items, performance of the exam as a whole, students enrollment, and Id numbers.   In addition each page of the report includes a standard heading with the report title, the date and time prepared, the test number and name, the instructors name, college, slot number and phone number.  It also includes in the title the course title and number of students present, absent and withdrawn.

Students scores are reported on one or more of the following scales:
Raw ScoreSimple sum of points earned
Percent ScoreRaw Score is divided by maximum possible raw score points times 100
Raw Rank in Class1 is considered highest and ties receive same rank
Percentile Rankpercent of students who scored lower than given students
Z-scoreStandardized score in which original raw scores have been shifted to a uniform standardized scale having a mean of 500 and a standard deviation of 100. Note: Z-scores are useful in comparing a single student's performance across several different item categories, across test within the same course, or across test in different courses

These are a list of the current exam reports that are commonly used...

  1. Error Listing (mandatory)
  2. Test Analysis Summary
  3. Item Analysis
  4. Item Analysis by Category
  5. Department Report
  6. Student Roll
  7. Students by Rank
  8. Raw Score Histogram
  9. Z-score Histogram
  10. Posting Report
  11. Student Letter

Note: Student letter report is an individual form to the student that is printed on 8.5 x 11 paper.  It contains current exam results as well as scores from their other exams.  The report can optionally contain the correct answer and students response to each item.  It can be printed in either Student name order or Id number order.

There are several kinds of gradebooks available.  The Raw Score and Percent Score gradebooks are most commonly used.  There is also a Z-Score gradebook which is used less.  It is to your advantage to select only the gradebooks that will be of use to you.  This will save you from sorting through unwanted reports.  For each of the 3 types of gradebooks you can select to receive any or all of the following reports:

  1. Instructors alpha ordered cumulative report
  2. Instructors cumulative rank report
  3. Posting report which is Id-ordered showing cumulative scores
  4. Posting report which is a cumulative rank report

NOTE: The Posting reports are the only reports of individual students scores which are designed to be publicly posted.  These reports are always arranged in ascending student Id number order.  They may be posted only as long as the confidentiality of student ID numbers has not been compromised.
