PROCEDURE FOR ACCUZYME

 

PURPOSE:  Debridement of necrotic tissue and liquefaction of slough in acute and chronic lesions

 

EQUIPMENT:

Normal Saline for Irrigation

Accuzyme

Skin Protectant Wipe

All Gauze 4 X 4

Paper Tape

 

NURSING ACTION:

 

PROCEDURE STEPS:

1.      Gather supplies.

2.      Clean ulcer with normal saline.

3.      Dry the skin around the ulcer.

4.      Apply skin protectant wipe to the healthy skin around the ulcer.

5.      Apply Accuzyme.

6.      Place the saline-moistened 4 X 4 over the Accuzyme.

7.      Cover with dry 4 X 4 gauze pads.

8.      Secure with paper tape, Montgomery straps, or stretch net.

9.      Change Dressing two times a day.
