b. Attendance, Punctuality (late calls), Illness, Reporting
The PNO adheres to the Clinical Programs Policy on absenteeism. Persons who call in
sick are required to call the nursing unit by the appropriate time
(Addendum I.3).
Failure to do so results in the receipt of an absent day; excessive absence results in
disciplinary action. The nursing personnel adhere to the Clinical Programs Policy on
tardiness and use of Accutime System as described in
Clinical Programs Policy HR 2.02 - Unapproved Absences
(Addendum
I.4).
c. Special Disciplinary Measures
Dismissal is a disciplinary termination of employment, which is appropriate in severe
cases or in situations where other forms of discipline have failed. Dismissal will follow
the disciplinary process as outlined in the UAMS Administrative Guide. Immediate dismissal
may occur for cause as stated in the UAMS Administrative Guide and for the following
reasons:
- An absence of three (3) consecutive days, without notifying the appropriate people, will
be interpreted as self-termination, effective as of the last day worked.
- An employee who leaves the work area without proper permission.
- Sleeping while on duty
(Addendum I.5).
- Gross misconduct.
- Separation/Termination
Separation Clearance Procedure must be followed. See UAMS
Administrative
Guide Policy 4.5.16. - Employee Separation Procedure
Employees who are terminated may make arrangements to have their final check mailed to
them.
