SUBJECT: SECTION J, UNIT SHIFT TASKS

Staff on 2A are assigned duties to help maintain the general cleanliness and order of the unit.  The following is a list of daily tasks which are assigned and monitored by the Care Delivery Facilitator (CDF).

  1. Clean and restock the medication room every shift.  This assignment includes stocking syringes, needles, alcohol pads, etc.; cleaning counters and sink of extraneous items; straighten and replenish reference books and all supplies.
  2. Check emergency equipment every 12 hours.  CDF or charge nurse on each shift will check and document on designated form.  The CDF will complete the checklist correcting any problems as identified (empty tanks of oxygen etc.).  Actions taken will be noted with date and time on back of emergency checklist.
  3. Utility Rooms:  Clean counters, instruments to be placed in appropriate basket; shelves orderly and restocked with appropriate items; equipment prepared for return to CSS or nursing storeroom.  Discarding out dated or unused supplies, clean and stack dietary trays, cleaning and storage of unit equipment (IV poles, fans).
  4. Clean and maintain orderliness of the following areas:
  1. Shower Room
  2. Nurses Station
  3. Sunporch
  4. Halls - (May maintain linen container in hallway. Remove all other equipment and containers from halls.)
  1. Clean the desk area and computers (Patient Service Coordinators)
  2. Clean the conference room:  Clean the microwave, straighten and clean conference room table, straighten and clean bulletin boards.
  3. Clean counters and sink of extraneous items.  Keep shelves orderly, remove unnecessary equipment.  Notify Linen Deptartment to replace isolation carts.  Notify PSC of any floorstock supplies to be restocked.
  4. Glucometer is cleaned  by 11-7 UAP.
  5. Multistix urine controls are monitored on all open bottles by CDF or designated staff.  This is recorded per policy in waive testing book.
