Financial Aid and Housing
Financial Aid. Teaching and research assistantships are
available to students in the Ph.D. program on a competitive basis. The stipend is $23,500, and tuition is
paid for graduate assistants.

Cost of Study. Tuition and fees for the 2006-2007
academic year are $252 per credit hour for Arkansas residents and $540 per
credit hour for out-of-state students. There is a Student Health Fee of $50
and a Student Technology Fee of $37.50.
Living and Housing Costs. The University opened
two new campus residence halls in fall 2006. They provide single occupancy
accommodations varying in cost for from $450 per month for a furnished
duplex room to $710 per month for a furnished one-bedroom apartment. Double
occupancy rates are lower. Dining facilities are available in the cafeteria
of the University Hospital. Also, reasonably priced apartments and houses
are available nearby.

Student Group. There are 2,435 students enrolled in the
various professional schools (Medicine, Pharmacy, Public Health, Health
Related Professions, and Nursing) at the University of Arkansas for Medical
Sciences. There are 123 students in the basic science departments of the
Graduate School. A campus wide student association offers social and
collegial relationships with other graduate students.
