The Department of
Neurology provides care for all adult patients with neurological disorders
including disorders of the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves and muscles.
Diagnostic evaluation and treatment will be given to hospitalized patients and
to outpatients as appropriate. Diagnoses we commonly treat include
seizure disorders, memory and cognitive disorders, movement disorders, multiple
sclerosis, neuromuscular disease, stroke, dementia and headache. The department
is also involved in national clinical trials of new treatments for multiple
sclerosis, dementia, stroke, Parkinson's Disease and other neurological
diseases.
Requirements for Referrals
The Department of
Neurology will be pleased to meet its patient care responsibilities by
facilitating referrals for inpatient and outpatient care. Referring physicians
with patients needing urgent or emergent care should contact the attending
neurologist for a consultation. Consultations may be arranged by calling (501) 686-7000. To arrange an outpatient consultation for a new patient, please contact the appointment center at
(501) 686-8000; return patients should contact the neurology clinic at (501) 686-5838.
For optimal service,
the referring physicians are kindly asked to provide the pertinent information
before their patients are seen in neurological consultation. For urgent
consultations, please fax the appropriate information.

include electroencephalography, long term video electroencephalography
monitoring, electromyography, and Botulinum
Toxin (BOTOX) Injection.
