University Hospital is the most advanced diagnostic and treatment facility in Arkansas. The 350 bed hospital added a new 200,000 square foot, 6-story wing in 1997 bringing the total footage to more than 650,000 square feet.

The advanced care provided at University Hospital has been one of the reasons U.S. News & World Report has named it "one of America’s best" for six consecutive years.  UAMS has been presented as "The Best Place to Work in Arkansas" according to a 2001 poll of Arkansas Democrat Gazette readers.

Large private birthing suites are equipped with state-of-the-art computer stations for continuous monitoring of patients’ vital signs.


Neonatal resuscitation room right on the labor and delivery floor. Infants who are at a high risk are stablized before moving to neonatal intensive care nursery.

 

 


Sophisticated intensive care rooms give medical personnel the ability to view patient and review vital signs without disturbing the patient unnecessarily. This design has become a model for the rest of the country.
