Because Self Image Is More Than Skin Deep.

Every man or woman has an image of how he or she would like to appear to the world - vibrant, healthy and active, enjoying life to the fullest. Yet, nearly everyone has some facial or body flaw that makes life less enjoyable. If you’re like most people, each passing year seems to bring some new unpleasantness - wrinkles, crow’s feet, varicose veins, sagging skin and so forth. Such flaws are virtually inevitable - but that doesn’t mean they’re completely irreversible.

Make the mirror your friend.

Why let an imperfection color your self-image? UAMS' laser and cosmetic surgery services program is well-equipped to repair Mother Nature’s mistakes or erase Father Time’s handiwork. With our modern techniques, you may be able to finally get rid of that trouble spot and enhance your appearance for years to come.

We can’t promise you the perfect face or body or a "new life." But we may be able to help you improve your looks and boost your confidence. The rest is up to you.

Our tools and facilities

UAMS offers access to the latest and most effective tools for enhancing and beautifying the human face and body: advanced cosmetic surgical equipment and facilities; state-of-the-art lasers; the most innovative and dependable treatments on the market; and specialized training and experience to put those tools to the most effective use.

Many of the procedures we offer require the skilled use of lasers, super-concentrated beams of light. Lasers in medicine are not new; they’ve been used for more than three decades to perform delicate eye operations. Today, lasers are used not only to perform life-saving surgical procedures but also to improve a person’s appearance. Certain types of lasers can make surgical cuts with much less physical trauma than a conventional scalpel. Lasers also can be used to remove layers of skin to reveal new skin beneath, or to selectively target unwanted tissue, such as hair follicles, without damaging surrounding tissue. New and innovative ways of using lasers are even now being developed. Our specialists are on the cutting edge of those advances and are known around the world for a few of their own.

If conventional surgery is needed to achieve the desired results, your surgery will be performed in our specially designed surgical area with modern equipment, by surgeons who are experienced with that procedure. If an overnight stay is necessary, you’ll have clean, comfortable accommodations. We want you to feel at home while you are in our care.

Our team

UAMS physicians are faculty members in the College of Medicine at UAMS, where most of the state’s physicians were trained, so our specialists are kept up-to-the-minute in their respective fields.

We offer the skill and experience of an entire team, including:

  • Anesthesiologists
  • A dermatologic laser surgeon
  • A cosmetic and facial reconstructive surgeon
  • An eyelid and orbital plastic and reconstructive surgeon
  • A head and neck laser surgeon
  • A vascular surgeon

Note: We offer experts in each specialized field of cosmetic and laser surgery services.

Our nurses and other clinical staff are trained and experienced in supporting these specialists and their patients. Our entire staff is familiar with the experiences of patients undergoing cosmetic procedures, so we can anticipate many of your needs.
