Stamps for Purchase
The Mail Processing Center sells postage stamps from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday - Friday. We sell regular first class stamps individually, a book of 20, or by the roll of 100.
We also try to keep on hand stamps of other denominations, including Airmail stamps and Priority Mail stamps. Stamps are sold on a cash only basis.
Currently, we are the only mail drop point on UAMS for U.S. postal mail. We accept personal stamped mail as well as business related items. All mail received in the Mail Processing
Center by 4:00 pm Monday - Friday is taken to the U.S. Post Office at 4:30 PM the same day.
Our office offers all the forms and paperwork necessary to send Priority, Express, Registered, and Certified mail. We also keep a supply of Postal Service mover's guides with
change of address forms.

Where to take UPS or Fed Ex packages for delivery
The Mail Processing Center does not handle Fed Ex or UPS parcels. If you need help with UPS or Fed Ex packages, you may contact the UAMS Distribution Services (686-6028)
for assistance. If your package is already prepared for shipping, a UPS drop box is located near the entry to Ward Tower in the alcove by the main elevators. A FedEx drop box
is located at the south entrance of the Education II Building on Campus Drive. After entering this building through its double doors, look for the alcove to the left.

Yellow Notice found in our Mail Slot
These notices are used to indicate you have an item that either will not fit into the mail slot or it requires a signature. The notice slip should indicate the type
of item received.
These slips are also used if the mail slot becomes completely filled. In that event, the mail is transferred to a plastic tub and held in the staging area. If you receive one of
these slips, present it to a Mail Processing employee and they will assist you in retrieving you mail items for you.

What is the difference between Priority Mail & Express Mail?
Express Mail is the an overnight service provided by the US Postal Service. Express Mail is committed for overnight delivery to most destinations. For an Express mail package to
be delivered by the next day it must be in the UAMS Mail Processing Center by no later than 12:00 PM (Noon).
Priority Mail provides 2 to 3 day service to most US destinations. International priority service is available which provides 5 to 7 day service to most countries. Hide
What is the difference between Certified, Registered & Insured Mail?
For a small fee, Certified Mail provides the sender with a receipt of the time of mailing and a record of delivery is kept at the post office. For an additional
fee, the return receipt will also bear the recipient's signature.
Registered Mail is the most secure service offered by the U.S. Postal Service. Through a system of receipts, the USPS monitors the movement of the mail piece from the point
of acceptance by the USPS to the point of delivery. The sender of the mail piece receives a receipt at the time of mailing, and a delivery record is kept at the post office servicing the
delivery address. This service also provides optional indemnity for additional protection in the event of loss or damage.
Insured Mail provides insurance against loss or damage for your mail item for a very reasonable price. You may insure mail items up to $5,000.00 and the cost of insurance is
based on the dollar value you placed of the item you want insured. You can view the current insurance prices at the US Post Office web site.

What exactly is Bulk Mail?
Standard Mail commonly referred to as Bulk Rate mail is mail that has been prepared and distributed using a special third class rate. Your department can prepare your mail for bulk rate
as indicated by our web page on Preparing Your Mail. Alternatively,
the Mail Processing Center offers a service where we can use direct address printing to prepare your mail for bulk mailing. For details on this service please see our
Mail Services page and choose from the Services We Offer menu.
The postage rates for Standard Mail varies, but for a non-profit organization, they are usually about half of the cost for first class mail of the same size and weight.
