He therefore works in the worlds of both general and ophthalmic surgical and autopsy anatomic pathology. He also collaborates with many basic vision scientists to provide valuable expertise in ocular tissue processing, examination, and interpretation of ocular disease in the research setting. Dr. Brown’s particular area of interest is the pathophysiology of ocular injury in childhood nonaccidental trauma ("shaken baby syndrome").
In addition to his clinical and research activities, Dr. Brown serves as a teacher of ophthalmic pathology to residents in ophthalmology and pathology throughout their training at UAMS. He also serves as Associate Director of the Walker Eye Research Center.
