Whether you contact us directly or are referred by a doctor, scheduling an appointment with the Jones Eye Institute is easy, simply call 501-686-5822 . (For pediatric appointments, call 501-320-1150.)
When to Call: The Institute is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Your First Visit: Upon arrival, your first step will be to register with the receptionist. A specially-trained nurse or technician will perform a screening exam and preliminary testing before you are examined by your physician. Your first visit could take two hours or more depending on your needs. Please plan on having your pupils dilated – this may mean you will need someone to drive you after your appointment. If you require certain diagnostic tests or have special eye problems, your appointment may last longer.
What to Bring: To help your visit go as smoothly as possible, bring the following with you:
- Your glasses, contact lenses and any other optical aids
- Important eye-care records, including x-ray and lab reports
- If referred, the name of the doctor who referred you
- A list of allergies and/or any medications you are currently taking
- A list of all questions and concerns regarding your eye care
- Your insurance information
In Case of an Eye Emergency: If you have an eye problem that needs immediate
attention, you do not have to schedule an appointment. During regular office
hours, come to the Jones Eye Institute. A doctor will see you promptly.
After hours, call the UAMS Medical Center at 501-686-7000 and ask for
the eye doctor on call, or go to the UAMS emergency room (click to see map to UAMS Entrance 1).
Assistance & Special Needs: When scheduling your appointment, be sure to request any special assistance you need so that we can make your visit as comfortable and convenient as possible.
Interpreter Service: When you set your appointment, let us know if you need an interpreter. A TDD (Telephone Device for the Deaf) is available in the patient waiting area.
Overnight Accommodations: If you need lodging for an overnight stay, please let us know so we can give you information about local hotel accommodations and special patient rates and services.
Parking
Parking is available for Jones Eye Institute patients in Parking Deck 3 (located at the corner of West Capitol Avenue and
Jack Stephens Drive). Bring your ticket stub to be validated in the clinic at the time of your
