IRB Committee Rosters
The members of the Institutional
Review Board are
appointed by the Vice Chancellor for
Research. There are four separate committees, each of which
reviews biomedical and behavioral protocols. There is no separate
behavioral IRB committee. Federal requirements mandate that the IRB must have at least five members of varying backgrounds to promote complete
and adequate review of research activities commonly conducted at this
institution. IRB members must be knowledgeable about institutional commitments
and regulations, applicable laws, standards of professional conduct, and
practice.
Biomedical research includes investigations
examining clinical outcomes from the administration of drugs, supplements,
medicines, surgical and other clinical procedures and diagnostics,
treatment regimens, and clinically applied interventions affecting the
progression, symptom management, diagnosis, or prevention of disease.
Methods include the administration of these techniques, substances and
procedures to measure endpoint and outcome effectiveness.
The Biomedical IRB committees regularly meet for four sessions per month
-- the first, second, third and fourth Tuesdays -- except during UAMS holidays. All rosters are presented in PDF format.
