SUBJECT:  To the Compliance Office

The UAMS Research Compliance Office coordinates with the research compliance programs at Arkansas Children’s Hospital Research Institute and Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System in implementation and oversight of a comprehensive research compliance program that demonstrates UAMS’ commitment to the education, oversight and accountability necessary to promote integrity, minimize the likelihood of noncompliance, aggressively investigate allegations of noncompliance, and address misconduct when it is substantiated. The research compliance program applies to all research approved by the UAMS Human Research Advisory Committee and conducted by its faculty, staff, students, residents and other affiliated agents, including volunteer faculty who utilize university resources or personnel.

The UAMS Research Compliance Office has one non-voting member on the HRAC membership and provides guidance on regulatory issues during convened meetings.  The UAMS Research Compliance Office also provides consultation on administrative issues related to regulatory processes within the HRAC Administrative Offices and serves as a liaison with federal regulatory agencies to ensure that HRAC actions requiring notification are sent as required by the Code of Federal Regulations.   In addition, the UAMS Research Compliance Office provides auditing services that may be requested by the HRAC Chairs or during a meeting of the convened HRAC to provide additional information for issues involving non-compliance.  This Office is an independent department within the Academic Affairs Division and reports directly to the VCAA.
