SEPT. 3, 2002 | Medical experts will present a free seminar, "Here's to Your Health: Solving the Problems of Infertility," Sat., Sept. 14, 8:30 a.m. - noon at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS).

  "Donor Eggs and Third-Party Reproduction"

"UAMS is a pioneer in infertility services in this state," according to Dean Moutos, M.D., of UAMS, a seminar presenter and one of Arkansas's only two physicians who are board-certified in reproductive endocrinology and infertility. "The first in vitro fertilization procedure (IVF) in Arkansas was performed at UAMS in July 1988. Since then, we've celebrated the birth of more than 500 babies who were conceived through IVF. Additionally, hundreds of babies have been born as a result of the many other infertility treatments we offer."

Participants in the seminar will be eligible for free door prizes, including an infertility office consultation, with ultrasound, and one cycle of Gonadotropin, a fertility drug which is valued at approximately $3,000 and will be provided by Serono Inc. Three restrictions will apply to the Gonadotropin drawing: 1) The woman must be present at the seminar to win; 2) she must have a medical indication for Gonadotropin therapy; and 3) she must undergo this drug therapy as a patient of UAMS.
