Accolades
Susan
DeAngelis, R.D.H., Ed.D., associate professor
in the College of Health Related Professions,
Department of Hygiene, received the Dental
Hygiene Teaching Excellence Award from the
American Dental Education Association. This
national award is presented to a dental hygiene
educator who has demonstrated excellence in
furthering dental hygiene education through the
development of creative teaching strategies aimed
at motivating students to learn about preventive
dental care and community outreach dentistry.
Tammy Gillham,
R.N., is nurse of the month for April. She
began working at UAMS while in high school. After
attending college and living a short while in
Texas, Gillham returned to UAMS in 1982. She
began nursing school in 1984 while working as a
CNA on 2B. Since graduating from Baptist Nursing
School in 1986, she has been working in SICU and
has been a valuable nursing leader in the Nursing
Department ever since by serving on numerous
committees, teaching educational classes, and
being active in several professional nursing
organizations. Gillham's husband, Scott, is also
a nurse at UAMS.
